Houston Rockets head coach said it himself. “We didn’t defend very well all night,” he commented after his team suffered a 6-point loss to the Sacramento Kings, 117-111.
This, despite the 30 points, six rebounds and four assists by Houston’s James Harden. It simply wasn’t enough in the face of the concerted efforts of the Kings, especially during the last minutes of the game, to secure their third straight win. Both Isaiah Thomas and John Salmons contributed 23 points and six assists each. With the DeMarcus Cousins churning out a combined seven rebounds and 20 points, coach Keith Smart was pleased with the turnout.
The Rockets had a 10-point lead at the beginning of the fourth quarter, but thanks to Salmons and Thomas each putting in three-point plays, the playing field was leveled at 100-100. Carelessness on the Rockets’ part resulted to Salmons adding more three shots after being fouled on a triple. An added two foul shots from Thomas pretty much decided the end result of the game.
Smart claimed that they had the “right pace” and the “right activity” in the game. Hopefully, they can sustain that.
